Spurs scored 3 goals in second half to keep title hopes alive (Tottenham 3 – 0 Man U)

Goals from young midfielder Dele Alli, defender Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela dealt a massive blow on Man U top four finish and boost Tottenham chances of lifting the English premier league. The trio goals reduced the Leicester ten points lead to seven points.
The kick off time was delayed by thirty minutes because Manchester United team bus was delayed by the London traffic. However, the game took a very long time before it came alive as White Hart Lane endures poor first half play from both teams. Tottenham looks happy after the game because they were able to cut the lead of Leicester who won two nil against Sunderland earlier. United is in fifth position on the table and are fighting for champions league spot.
Jan Vertonghen returned to Tottenham line up after recovering from medial knee ligament injury suffered in January.  Timothy Fosu-Mensah preferred at the right back by United coach Luis Van Gal and he was really up to everything Tottenham threw at him before he was forced out by injury. Marcus Rashford was kept silent throughout due to lack of service from Man U midfield before he was replaced by Ashley Young.
Manchester United had De Gea to thank, because the goals would have been more. After Mensah was replaced by Darmian, Tottenham started to explore the Italian’s wing. Christian Eriksen received a pass from Harry Kane and coolly laid it for Dele Alli to finish past the helpless De Gea for Spurs first goal. Then Darmian was booked for fouling Harry Kane and Eric Lamela sent the resulting free kick to the United box and was nodded home by Toby Alderweireld to make it two nil. The third goal arrived for Tottenham when Rose sent a low cross to Eric Lamela who wasted no time to send the ball past De Gea. United keeper tipped Kane’s header over the bar as Tottenham became too hot for Man U to handle. Manchester United will have to buckle up for the Wednesday FA cup replay against West Ham.
