Messi netted his 450th goals for Barcelona, but was not enough to save the Catalans from third straight league defeat. Rakitic scored an own goal in the first half and Santi Mina scored the second before the end of the first 45 minutes to condemn Barca into third straight league defeat.
Having lost the previous two games to both Real Madrid and Real Sociedad, Barca new they needed to get all the three points this time around. All the Barca front three has the opportunity to score, but were prevented by Diego Alves's big hands. Ivan Rakitic surprisingly scored an own goal before Santo Mina added the second before the end of first half, but Leo Mess I pulled one back after break. Barcelona was unable to find an equalizer till the end of 90 minutes and was condemned to a third straight defeat in LA Liga.
Real Madrid had he earlier on Saturday trashed Getafe to put them between a point below Barcelona. Atletico Madrid also won their game earlier on Sunday to level on point with Barcelona, but league leader failed to take inspiration from the two rival's win. Barca is now leveled on point with Atletico Madrid.
However, Messi scored his 450th goals for Barcelona and 500th career goal, but was not enough to save the day for the Catalans.
